You can ask educators around the globe and most will tell you that at-risk youth are usually brilliant thinkers! At BTYS we encourage our residents to tap into the most valuable commodity they have, their superpower so to speak. Their minds are full of ideas and dreams, at our facility we not only want to see them flourish we have put in place programs to ensure they have that opportunity to do so! We are starting small and have grand hopes and plans to grow with them.
We have established a portal for expanding their digital horizons with Graphic Arts & Multimedia exposure and training. With one-on-one training and exposure to these real-world job skills, they can independently or collectively carve out a skillset to earn a living for themselves. Nothing will come easy, it will take hard work, discipline, and consistency to be successful. We will provide them the springboard, opportunity, and technology for success by exposing them to and promoting digital learning in 2022! A mind is a terrible thing to waste and we refuse to waste even one!
BTYS IS AHEAD OF THE LEARNING CURVE
Interview skills are important tools in obtaining a job or hiring our staff. Job interviews are an essential part of growing in your career. They’re the culmination of all the effort you put into refining your skills, running the spell check on your resume and collecting references to stand out in a pool of applicants.
An important interview skill is the ability to connect the role requirements with your experience—professional or personal. Not only does this give the hiring manager a chance to get to know you but also allows you to become more comfortable with the idea of an interview. In an interview, hiring managers are looking to evaluate your fit as a potential employee by assessing your interview communication skills.
These job interview skills give them an insight into how you’d communicate with your colleagues or clients, how well you’ll solve problems, whether you’re a critical thinker or not, or even if you listen actively.
BTYS IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE ONE RESIDENT AT A TIME!
Graphic Arts cover the digital and physical components of thought all the way through the physical creation of the designed end product. From logos, websites, photography, and print we will expose our residents to how it all works. Our simple exposure modules will help our residents decide if this path is for them. Everyone learns differently, some are computer wizards already and some are out-of-the-box thinkers for sure. We are establishing a custom two-part 6-hour curriculum to meet their needs.
Initially, in part one we will teach them basic computer graphics from concept to design, all the way through a finished product. They will use cutting edge digital graphics software, computers, printing presses, transfer to garment processes and learn the differences of garment quality, garment purpose and more.
We will in part two teach them sales, marketing, packaging, and delivery for their creations. These experiences will allow them to see if this is a fit for them and if so we will help them navigate the next steps. It could be college, entrepreneurship, or employment the choice is theirs.
Our first group exposure is June 2022 check back soon to see what our residents create collectively in their first exposure to Graphic Arts!

Multimedia encompasses print, digital, television, audio, video, and social media platforms, and those technologies are evolving daily. We get most of our information today on our cell phones, tablets, and computers.
Our focus will be on the digital delivery of the aforementioned information. We will expose our residents to Apple's newest professional video and audio platform Final Cut Pro, which is the standard in the multimedia world. They will learn how to script, produce, film, capture audio, and lighting, and editing a complete video project. This will incorporate critical thinking, planning, English, math, and more. We will use our residents in all aspects of the production.
We will have them learn how to work with one another, count on each other and value themselves collectively and individually. They will use state-of-the-art equipment and technologies to produce a two-minute informational video of their choice. All of these components can translate into multimedia and other real-world jobs. Such as journalism, photography & videography, gaming, and more.
As with Graphic Arts, these skills and experiences can also lead to college, entrepreneurship, or employment the choice is theirs. Our first group exposure is June 2022 check back soon to see what our residents create collectively in their first exposure to Multimedia!
